Through these Champagne wines, we aim to introduce you to the terroir of Ludes and its surroundings. These champagnes are built on four pillars: a plot – a grape variety – a vintage – a vinification process.
This Blanc de Noirs cuvée comes from the “Les Grimpants” plot located in the northeast of Ludes. It is a vineyard planted halfway up the slope with 30-year-old Pinot Noir vines on a soil of loam on chalk.
This plot is divided into two parts: at the top of the hill, on a surface of chalky soil, 60-year-old Chardonnay vines are planted. At the bottom of the hill, on a clay-loam layer, 30-year-old Pinot Noir vines are found.
It’s a vineyard plot in the Premier Cru vineyard of Taissy with a northeast exposure. Chardonnay vines planted in a 50-year-old chalky soil.
Formerly an orchard, the Clos Doré is a 55-are plot of Chardonnay hidden in the heart of Ludes. Planted in 1978, it has been designated as a mother vine (source of grafts) by the CIVC and the INRA.
The Clos Doré is west-facing and planted on clay soils with a chalky subsoil.
Comprising the 3 single vineyard cuvées, this collection box offers an exceptional tasting journey through the various terroirs of Ludes and its surroundings.
3 different plots, 3 different vintages, 3 different blends, 3 different vinification processes, and thus 3 different expressions of terroir in the wine.
The Lieux-dits Collection Box is produced in limited edition, with only 100 copies available each year.
